Iron and manganese from shallow wells

The Georgetown Water Department's 2025 report says the town blends water from Marshall's Well, Commissioner's Well and Duffy's Landing Well, all 40 to 60 feet deep in the Parker River aquifer. The plant adds two oxidants and runs the water through greensand pressure filters to remove naturally occurring iron and manganese, and the report says raw water iron has risen significantly. The department has begun building a new pretreatment facility to improve water quality systemwide.

In 2025 lead at the 90th percentile was 9 ppb and copper 0.67 ppm, with none of 20 homes over either action level. The lead service line inventory is posted at georgetownwater.org.
