Water

Reservoir water from Charlemont Creek

The village's 2025 water report says Wellington draws from the Wellington Up-ground Reservoir, which is filled each year with water pumped from Charlemont Creek, part of the West Branch of the Black River watershed. Ohio EPA rated the source highly susceptible to contamination in 2002, and the village's source water protection plan was endorsed in 2021.

Lead was tested twice in 2025, with 90th percentile results of 4.2 and 3.7 ppb and no sites over the action level. The report includes a 2025 Tier 3 notice tied to the wording of 2024 service line notices; the village says it updated its inventory and reissued the notices.
